Union Sports Minister reacting to IPL management
Union Sports Minister Kiran Rijiju said the future of the IPL will be revealed after April 15. Any decision will be taken according to the directions given by the Center. However, due to corona, the IPL, which is due to take place on 29th of this month, has been postponed till next month. “The cricket is not an Olympic sport, but the BCCI is for the sake of cricket,” he said. The central government will come up with new advice and guidelines to address the situation after April 15, he added. But it is not just a game, but a public protection. This is because thousands of people are coming to watch the IPL. However, the government has made it clear that foreign players will not be allowed to come into the country to play in the IPL. The decision was taken at a March 11 meeting. The Ministry of Sports has ordered the cancellation of all sports activities in the wake of coronavirus outbreak. It was told that the games should be held in an empty stadium rather than proceeding. Following a meeting with IPL franchise owners last Saturday at the BCCI HQ in Mumbai, BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said that the government would take the suggestion that the government had given the media.
